Smith Rock, or “Smith” to the locals, is the premier rock climbing destination in the Pacific Northwest and one of the best in the world.

Our guided rock climbing days and instructional courses are custom designed for every skill level, whether you’ve never climbed before, want to get outside for the first time, take a course on anything from crack climbing to multipitching or self-rescue, or just want to get out and climb.

With thousands of routes at every grade, there’s no better place to learn to climb or to hone your craft on some of the country’s greatest climbs. Whether you’re looking to just go out and climb or to learn the skills to take your climbing to the next level, Smith is the perfect venue. With sport, traditional and even aid climbing classics of all shapes and sizes, there’s a wealth of climbing opportunities a short walk from the parking lot. And with over 200 days of sun a year, there’s always dry rock to be found.

Smith really is a great place to climb year round. Winter can be perfect if the sun’s shining and far warmer than you’d think, plus the area is delightfully quiet, especially on weekdays. Spring is lovely as well, with good temperatures and not too much rain. Summer can be hot, but is still a great time to climb if you know where to chase the shade. Autumn is prime as cooling temperatures make climbing in the sun a pleasure, and on hot days it’s still an easy escape to shadier routes.

Come join us and see what it’s all about!
