Now! Climbing Guiding and Instruction in the Northwest and Beyond

2010/11 Guiding Calendar

If you want to go climbing, here’s where I’ll be. I’d love to have you out, so let me know if you’re interesting in joining me in any of these fantastic destinations.

Late Summer / Early Fall 2010: The North Cascades, Washington Pass – all the good stuff. Thee Boston Basin area, the Liberty Bell Group, the Pickets, Mt. Shuksan; all kinds of stuff. Let me know.

October 2010: Red Rocks, NVThrough a partnership between Timberline Mountain Guides and Jackson Hole Mountain Guides I’m happy to offer climbs and courses to anyone interested. Let me know if you’d like to come out and enjoy some of the country and perhaps the world’s best moderate, multi-pitch rock climbing in an unmatched setting of desert beauty. Nowhere else can you walk an hour to a 12 pitch 5.8 climb or drive a half hour to the Las Vegas Strip. If you’re into those sorts of things.

Late October – December 2010: Thailand. Working and playing. Maybe even revisiting that route that got away up in the Beartooths. Wanna come? Wanna come sport climbing in paradise? Let me know.

December 2010: El Pico de Orizaba Expedition, Puebla, Mexico. Hopefully I’ll have another opportunity to take part in another successful Timberline Mountain Guides Expedition to climb Mexico’s highest, 18,496′ Orizaba. A great trip with everything from firm cramponing to delicious tacos. Spaces are still available for the 2011 expedition which will run from December 5th through the 14th. Check out the TMG website here for more information, and check out pictures from last year’s trip here. Be sure to let the office know you heard about it through me so I can come along!

December 2010 – February 2011: Colorado. Ice climbing in Ouray and the San Juans and lots and lots of skiing. Ouray Ice Park, Telluride and Silverton backcountry climbs. Ice, ice, ice (and mixed).  More detailed information on Ouray and Colorado ice climbing check out the site here. And the beauty of it is that it’s really not that cold, and we have hot springs and endless powder…

March 2011: Probably more Red Rocks, probably some more skiing. Expedition prep time. The Complete East Buttress of North Sister is really good in March and I’ve never had any takers. Why not?

April-May 2011: Alaska! Work is TBD at this point, but will most likely be another course with AMS. If you have dreams of alpine ice and snow climb in the most beautiful range in North America, come on up. Not everything in the Alaska Range is high and cold, but it is all awesome and caters to all levels of climbing. Whether you want moderate alpine snow climbs, steep ribbons of ice, or mixed testpieces, you can find them in Alaska in the spring. Let’s go.

June-July 2011: Back to Oregon. Summer alpine climbs on Mount Hood and the Oregon Cascades, as well as ski mountaineering the Cascade volcanoes, rock climbing at Smith Rock and other local areas, and courses of all kinds.

Good heavens. That’s as far ahead as I can plan.
